A Sexist Joke Contest for Alito

To: Bruce Reed
Re: Benched

Alito appears to lack the proper respect for women. I suggest you replace your out-questions contest with a sexist joke contest. The advantage is that he wouldn't be able to duck them: the diagnosis would be in the involuntary laughter, if any, that would make him look piggish, rather than merely confused.

Frightening Thought

To: Mickey Kaus

The only professionals many kids come into contact with on a regular basis are public school teachers. Role model, or must avoid?

Sizzling Wolves

To: Mickey Kaus
Re: More Hot Davis-Bacon Dish!

B.'s remarks amount to: Davis-Bacon provides firms that regularly hire union labor with an advantage over firms that regularly hire illegal immigrants.

Good!

Actually, we can agree on something: post-Katrina contracting should be policed for illegal immigrant hiring. Contractors will doubtless use them to ease wage pressure.

Theoretically, it would be good for Dems to show the Bush administration, in effect, conspiring with contractors to avoid D-B accountability and increase the number of illegals on federal contracts... but they'd probably regard that as racist!

P.S.
Rethinking what I said in a previous email, we already have a massive federal jobs program in stealth form as food stamps etc subsidize low-wage jobs. Depending on overall economic conditions, maybe this is a good thing?

Re: Silent Night? Holy Crap!

If you're right that the pregnancy is further along than they admit, then the birth will be officially premature. Do you think Scientology is planning to spin it as a miracle when baby is, nonetheless, healthy and of normal full-term birth weight? Katie is an actress who claimed to be a virgin, which, allowing for the passage of 2000 years, is pretty close. Will the child's name be... L. Ron Cruise?

The Unaskable Question

To: Bruce Reed
Re: The Girl Next Door

When George W. Bush compared Harriet Miers to a pit bull, was he thinking of her character or her face?

Not being sexist and mean, just wondering on GWB's motive...
